QQ against a tight PFR
Motor City Casino 5-10 10 handed
Villian is a calling station. When he bets after checking for every street, he always has it. When he raises preflop, he usually has a good hand. Probably AA-JJ, AKs, AQs, AKo kinda range. I have Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in HJ 1 fold, Villian raises, 1 cold call, I 3-bet, 2 cold calls, folded to Villian who caps, all call. Flop (5 players) 20sb T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Villian bets, 1 call, Hip calls, 2 calls Turn (5 players) 12BB 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Villian bets, 1 fold, I raise this is the last money I put in, unless the river is a Q. |

Re: QQ against a tight PFR
You raise the turn in lieu of raising the flop for better hand protection? If so I like it so far, but I don't like protecting my hand on the turn if I'm just going to fold to one more BB. If he calls then leads a non A or K river, then I don't fold, but if he raises the turn, then I defer to your reads.

Re: QQ against a tight PFR
Your story may rest with your other players. Now there is a diamond flush draw and with you guys raising, I would slow play a small set against you until the turn. Your raise is a good test of Villain holding AKo as his cap play, but if he just calls and bets out the river, I would cry and call because of the pot size rather than let him take it down uncontested. If others call, their 2 pair may bust his AA or KK and if they have any credibility with me, if they call, I'm gone.

Ahh Detroit. How often is 10/20 being spread at MCC?
It is pretty much non-existent at Greektown. |

[/ QUOTE ] How do you call a player who is this active in a hand a 'calling station'? You've got his mannerisms pegged, it seems, and should proceed accordingly. You say he bets usually with 'a good hand'. What is a good hand here for what you called a calling station to bet on the turn? The only hand I'd expect him to have given this information that you can beat is JJ (unlikely given the pre-flop cap). You've put the fright into him with your turn raise (you don't mention that he called but it's implied) and, since he didn't re-raise you on the turn you can expect him to check-call the river unless he hits his set and if I were you I would check and pray on the river as well. |
