Relax. The drafting test might be quite easy. They just want to see if you know Autocad and some basic drafting techniques. They aren't going to try to trick you.

i got the job. i was told he wouldn't go any higher than 27.5k a year. what was i supposed to say, no?

he said after a 3 month "prohibitionary work" period my pay will go up, and if the boss thinks i'm worth 40k then i'll be paid 40k. it's a smallish company so i believe it, and the boss himself (the owner) is very nice.

i'm currently drinking, and going to be stoned later. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INSIGHT AND HELP.

AutoCAD 14? I feel sorry for you. I think I saw that at the Smithsonian next to the dinosaur exhibit. I know some CAD guys that work for Lockheed in Maryland and make about 76k a year. Just depends on who you work for and what area.

That IS way out of this world. That would not be common at all. Most engineers don't get paid that much.

You are wrong here, I am in graduate school for engineering, starting average salary for an aerospace engineer with a masters is 70k, some of my friends got offers at 80k. This is in the southeast US, I've seen offers in the NE 10-20% higher for cost of living.
