HUNLSNG : Defending against the minraise/minbet player
I recently started playing these husngs and have about 100 of them under my belt. My question is how do you guys defend against these players who minraise before the flop from the button and minraise preflop when you limp to them about 80% of the time?
I play on party and they usually dont bother me much at the 20/40 level, but at 30/60 and 50/100 they are a pain to deal with. I try making some checkraises against them or donking out into them but a lot of them will call with high cards, or float you and try to take the pot away on later streets. |

Check call them to death with top pair/middle pair. Bet with bottom pair, or a decent draws, and some weaker hands.
When they work out what you are doing (sometimes never) reverse this strategy. If they spot this, go back to ABC heads up poker. |

Re: HUNLSNG : Defending against the minraise/minbet player
I have a lot of trouble against these types of opponents too. They minraise preflop, you call with some speculative hand, but miss the flop or get a small piece if it. Whats your plan? What if they are the check/call type and you get put in a lot of bad spots?
Other perspectives please chime in. Nichomacheo |

Re: HUNLSNG : Defending against the minraise/minbet player
yeah, these people are loose aggressive as well. Ive found that betting marginal hands is a waste of time, a lot of times they will float you and try to push you off your hand, or they will just call with a hand that is better than yours. The best way ive been able to get money off them is to just sit back and trap them in hands.
Once we get to 50/100 and 100/200 I usually just start shoving into them preflop. This really screws up their minbet strategy. I am selective with the hands I shove with because some of them do make some really loose calls. I remember playing against one of these players today and I didn't bluff him once in a raised pot. |
