Romania isn't playing poorly. Neither is Canada.

And Tonga beat Samoa. That makes things a lot easier for England probably

Good win for Tonga. England's decline since 2003 is depressing. In the run up to the World Cup win they beat all 3 of the top southern hemisphere sides home and away, a miracle would now be required to get through the quarter final and it's not even a certainty to get to that stage.

[ QUOTE ]

Have you seen them play? I haven't seen Ireland yet but England looked better than France or Argentina.

I just want to say I could not have been more wrong, nobody in the history of watching rugby has been more wrong.

Some big games coming up this weekend

France-Ireland : probably the decider for 2nd place in Pool D, France should win here but will be a hard fought match, then Ireland has to finish against Argentina.

England-Samoa : must-win for England and they'll manage to scrape into the quarters; more importantly the Samoans will play tough and its a chance for England to get their act together and try to show some form.

NZ-Scotland : interesting because it's the only decent team NZ will face in Pool C, so we'll get to see how they handle tougher competition.

Cbloom,

The more important game for England will be against Tonga. Tonga wins and they are through. Samoa should be tougher than Tonga, though.

Just wanted to bump this as we've had, are having and are going to have some important games this weekend.

England beat Tonga to advance to the quarters. Italy-Scotland is later today with the winner advancing as well. Fiji is up 25-10 on Wales right now in what would be a pretty big upset. Winner goes to the quarterfinals. Pool D has a bunch of possible scenarios as even undefeated Argentina isn't guaranteed to go on without at least a bonus point against Ireland tomorrow. They also have a lot of incentive to win outright in order to be sure to avoid the All Blacks in the quarters. Very few filler games left and we are really getting to the good rugby of the tournament. Go Pumas!!

Half time in Wales-Fiji now, tempers are getting frayed and its getting scrappy, but a compelling game to watch. 4.45am here, no plans to go to sleep yet. Would be really good for the tournament if Fiji pulled off the upset here.

NZ looked decent against Romania, but it was basically the B team. If Carter is out for a quarter final against France it would scare the [censored] out me.

Don't want to speak to soon but there is a very high possibility of an all Southern Hemisphere semifinal as well 5 of the 8 quarterfinalists being from S. Hemis. for the first time ever (i think). It appears it isn't just the Tri-nations teams anymore.

Very nice back line play leading to that try. Missed kick and now 25-22 Fiji

That not being ruled a try is huge.
