Yes, but you cannot really compare the two (and Irieguy won the same bet). It would be like saying "You remember that guy who did like 8 thousand* in an hour, this guy has four whole hours to do one eighth of the push ups, LOCK!"

*I think the record was more, but I am too lazy to look it up.

I don't know if he can or he can't, but 1000 push ups in four hours is not like running a four minute mile, it is like being able to get through a half marathon: lots of people can do that if they have trained for it. Maybe the guy is just some moron who talked himself into believing it was easy, or maybe he knows exactly what he is capable of and this is a sucker bet.

IN ANY CASE: it's like what? a $50 bet, so this needs to happen and we need results.

edit - just reread OP and he did already take the bet, but we have to wait until sunday for the results. I hate waiting.

um 4 pushups a minute is a joke. But for someone who weighs 185, it *might* be difficult. 1000 in two hour would actually require *some* training, but not a lot. 1000 in one hour would require a lot more training, but definitely not super difficult by any standard.

There was a thread about this competition in the health and fitness forum a while back. It was 500 in 2 hours and I spouted off that it would be easy, seeing how you would only have to do about 4 a minute. I ended up trying it and completed it in 112 minutes. I was hoping to do 5 a minute for 100 minutes without any breaks, but I ended up taking 2 five minute breaks and one 2 minute break. My first break came in after completing almost 400 pushups. FWIW, that is where it became really difficult for me. I'm 5'8" 170lbs and don't do pushups regularly and probably could only bench my body weight one time. I do think 1000 in 4 hours is a much tougher challenge though.

185 lbs at 5'8" is like really big for someone who is not morbidly obese or a NFL running back, it seems likely that his muscle mass far outstrips his stamina and this seems like an easy win for you...

however there is an issue here that everyone has so far ignored, it is my understanding that steroids and hgh have profound effects on muscle stamina and recovery; and as far as i know there is no prop bet athletic commission that tests for illegal supplements, if the guy you are betting against is confident that he can do this he may have a good reason for it

before the attempt is made you may want to bluff him with the threat of steroid testing and claim that positive results would void the bet in order to gauge his reaction, if the stakes of the bet are high enough you definitely want to lay the groundwork for an actual test being grounds for disqualification should he complete the 1k pushups

[/ QUOTE ]
Not true, I am 5'9'' and 180 and am not fat at all. It is not really big, merely above average

I think he meant he wishes people would say they could do 1k push ups in a couple of hours. I think I am gonna try and trick my meat head room mates into bets like these. I could use some spare cash.

If that 185 was muscle mass he wouldn't be benching so little. OP stated it's not fat so this guy might be just, big-boned? I stand by my post, easy money.

Plus good point about the doping.

[/ QUOTE ]

lol, what do you bench, Chump ... Change?

I don't know, I think 6 hours is doable.
