Ultimate bad beat - having to fold w/ the nuts?!
This happened at a game called Macintosh - home version of poker where cards can be passed to the next player, and if someone has a pair he has to match the pot (or $5, whichever is lower.) The game is played hi/low.
One player recently was showing trip K's (1 down, followed by 4 up cards - 5 total) when he was dealt a 4th K for a lock hi. Trouble was, there was only $8 in the pot, one opponent going low, and it cost him $10 to match - a guaranteed $1 loss. So he had to fold. Weird, huh? None of us there had ever seen this one before. Folding the nuts in ANY game is clearly always wrong.

Re: Ultimate bad beat - having to fold w/ the nuts?!
shouldn't he just have to match since the pot is larger than $5? isn't it a split?
