TT,

How many people do you think viewed the thread?

[/ QUOTE ]

How big do you think Cardplayer's circulation is?

TT,

http://www.cardplayer.com/media_kit/circulation

Regardless of how accurate those numbers are, it's a hell of a lot more than the maybe couple thousand people who saw the BBV thread.

Well, more than a couple thousand saw the BBV threads. At one point, 1700 people were viewing BBV at once, about 5 times normal. Of course, people were dropping in and out constantly over the last month. We were only 100 viewers short of the overall 2+2 record set when Party closed.

iron,

I'd be surprised if more than a few thousand did. It only has 20k views total. But the main point was simply pointing out TT's ridiculous claim.

I can't figure out who is winning this argument so I don't know whether to say "Masowned" or "Diablowned". Somebody please advise.

Cardplayer has less than 40,000 circ in the US, their media kit now states only the world wide circulation intentionally to upsell but US facing businesses can purchase just the US circ because Cardplayer is a US only magazine, the other mags are published as separate titles in each market. Of that the vast majority of it goes in the garbage (just ask your local poker room manager, over 50% is in the trash). Using your figures of 20,000 readers in a weekend, I think its safe to assume that 2+2 reached more views in a weekend than cardplayer gets in peoples hands in a 2 week period.

But thats not important and we both know it, its purely nitpicking because thats your MO. The major news outlets have picked up the story thanks to that thread (and Andathar's great work with the press).

Back on track - I assume everyone knows that this story was run by ABC News and MSNBC this past weekend already (which reaches a greater audience than I think any of us could have hoped for, and includes a mention of 2+2). The ABC story included this quote "Frank Catania, a former gaming commissioner in New Jersey who helped the Kahnawake Gaming establish its regulations, said under commission rules AbsolutePoker could lose its license and individuals could be turned over to Canadian authorities." - I know some of us don't believe the KGA's investigation will be honest but luckily for us the Quebec provincial police are also on the case now - we will likely see a resolution that will satisfy us all, the added pressure from QPP will likely force KGA to take an aggressive stance; there is too great a risk not to do so.

update - cardplayer ran a story today. Their site seems to be down now, but google news found it for me.

Nitpicking? No, TT, my MO is not making dumb claims, and pointing out when others do.

"that thread has been viewed by more people over the past weekend than cardplayer's circulation"

That's what you wrote. Part of what you don't appear to grasp is that the 20,000 views came from a number of people far less than 20,000.

And the real ownership of Absolute has pretty much nothing to do with Canada or Chief Joe.

That's because Adanthar has been locking threads and creating new threads as we go. There are threads with 44k, 42k, 40k, 38k, 34k, 27k, 25k and several other smaller main threads with many spinoff threads.

Of course, as I do indeed understand how the real world works, your stance is exactly what I expected.

Good for you. I had my doubts that you even had a clue. Thanks for correcting me. It's much appreciated.

Hi ZB:

I subscribe to the theory that this thing is much bigger than AP. That changes my thinking and approach about a lot of things. So right at this moment, our strategy is to watch and see.

Best wishes,
Mason
