Getting the most out of coaching videos?
I've renewed my Stoxpoker membership and downloaded some of the micro-NL videos. What's the best way to learn from these videos beyond simply watching them over and over again?

Re: Getting the most out of coaching videos?
I think the key is not to simply watch the video, but to compare the decisions the instructor makes in every hand on every street with the one you'd make. Write them down on a piece of paper or txt-File and replay the spot if you have got no clue why the hand was played in a specific way or you would have taken a completely other line.
Try to think about the reasons you play differently in these spots. I think that will help you to find basic leaks in your game, maybe fundamental ones. Discuss the decisions you'd have made different with other good players to understand certain concepts entirely. Imo the reason why most people don't improve even though they watch lots of vids is that they just watch them in the same way they would watch some entertainment program without really thinking about the content to much. |

To add on to what BStinson said, a technique I remember reading about is to watch the video without the sound (i.e. commentary), and see if you can figure out why the pro is making the plays he's making.

I used to move my mouse along with the videos and see how the pros play differently. Also don't just emulate but understand why a play is made.
