Default Solitaire

My grandpa taught me a solitaire game that he used to gamble in which runs like normal solitaire, with seven rows of cards each one longer than the previous trying to bring the Aces up, then the 2's etc.
The gamble in it is that you flip a single card from your deck at a time, but you only get one time through.
you pay $52 ($1 per card) for the deck and get paid out $5 for each card you can put up top. no bonus for winning (althoguh ive never seen anyone win)
Can anyone help me to figure out who has the advantage, and what the advantage in the game is

Default Re: Solitaire

You can play this for fun with Windows Solitaire. Just go to the options and change it to Vegas style. I've played it a lot out of boredom. Although I don't have any numbers to back me up, the house advantage in this game is significant. I lost more "money" than I won, although there were plenty of times when I won a single game.

Apparently some online casinos offer this game for real money. The Wizard of Odds mentions it, but he admits that he doesn't have any information about the house edge. This is a fun game, but don't play it for real money, unless of course you take on the role of the house. If you can find a foolish gambler to pay you $52 to deal the cards, let the man play solitaire all day long.
