Keith Hernandez used to regularly break this rule by standing with one foot in foul territory while holding a runner at first. Sometimes, a team would bitch about it and make him move, but normally nothing was ever said about it. I used to copy his style in my games, and only got told to move once.

Yeah, I was a left-handed 1Bman and I always kept my foot in foul territory. I also got called on it once and was totally confused. I guess the guy was right.

Whitey Herzog filed a complaint and keith had to stop doing it iirc
