$200 NL - Fold 2nd Set on the Flop?
I know that the answer to these is almost always "no!", but... CO is 16/10/3, with WTSD of 9, over a ~500 hand sample. SB is 21/14/2, but my notes say "leads weak". Call due to possibility of combo draw pushing?
Party Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $1/$2 5 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $199 CO: $247 Button: $188.23 SB: $240.55 Hero: $397.62 Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG folds, CO raises to $8, Button folds, SB calls, Hero calls. Definitely call. Could be a combo draw, could be 77, even if it's JT you have a ton of outs. Only hand you don't want to see is 99 obv.
Wait, SB folded right? |

I go broke here always. [/ QUOTE ] Yeh, me too. Turns out I was 2:1 favourite, but my new year's resolution is to fold more, and I was sitting there trying to work out what kind of range he'd do this with... and came up with a blank. Turns out he had TT, which I can live with. |

But a resolution to never ever ever fold sets would work out better for you if you really think this hand is even remotely a candidate when there are 75 billion two-pair combinations and strong draws and one lower set that could be pushing, and your equity even against the uebernuts of J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] is still pretty strong. |

If you fold here, you can team up with soultwister, although this is not a easy spot. I`ll put CO often enough on an overpair.
Doesn`t really matter what he has in the specific hand, because in general you are winnning more by calling... |

call quick. CO can have overplayed AA/KK a lot, as well as 77, Maybe TT in addition to JT.
Most importantly, you're only calling about 160 to win 340 in what will be the 500 pot. If you know he's got straight, its a call. |
