Default Where are good places to play poker in Europe

I was thinking of taking a trip to Europe for a working vacation. I know that England and Ireland have plenty of places with PLHE/PLO, and there seems to be limit/spread limit stud and some PL games in Germany and Austria. I am also interested in playing at the Aviation Club in Paris. I know they play limit HE and PLO in Amsterdam, but it doesn't seem that popular and has a high rake.

I was wondering where else are there reasonably active mid limit games. I am pretty comfortable playing any game, partlicularly NL/PL. I don't have experience in PL dealers choice and such, but I am interested in playing that. I know the rake is somewhat higher than in the US at most places.

I'd say go to the Vic in London. Their bigger PLO, PLH, and mixed games seem very good.

The only other place I've played is Barcelona. The rake is unbelievable (10% uncapped!), but the players are very awful in the E20/E40 game that they spread there. It can be a fun time if you think your edge over the seemingly clueless Spanish Limit Hold'em players is enough to overcome the rake and entitle you to some free amusement. (The bet counting in Catalan is particularly entertaining).

I've seen the Amsterdam game but never played in it. Apparently the Limit Holdem game gets wild and crazy on Sundays for some reason.

Aviation Club in Paris is good...if you want to die of Cancer from inhaling 4 million pounds of tar and nicotine from these selfish [censored]. Players are average at best. Holland Casino is a really nice casino, limited game selection (mostly limit), but they do spread NLHE as avaialble in the afternoon. Rake is unbeatable, in my opinion, and the players refuse to lay down hands. They play NL like limit, and it has a capped buy in, so you're pretty well screwed.

London is good, Baden Baden in Germany is a really nice casino, but poker is spread only on the weekends. Good luck

Softest games are in Barcelona and Paris in that order. I'd go for Barcelona as they have a big tournament week coming up in September and the action will be plentiful. Although the rake is high it isn't uncapped as earlier poster said. It is 10% with a E25 or E50 cap depending on the game. It is also a great city to visit for non poker reasons.

The games in Dublin are great fun. Especially the maniac-filled PLH/PLO games (the Fitzwilliam has a fun game with alternates rounds of the two with 1/2 Euro blinds). I once saw two players get all in pre flop for 300 euros each with QTo and 96s respectively. Friendly players as well, as long as you can cope with the variance.

The tournaments are pretty soft, too.
