Default good spot for river c/r?

10/20 6-max

Villain is 30/18/3 over 70 hands. This was from awhile ago, so I can't remember any history and doubt there was any.

Hero: $2100
Villain: $2800

UTG folds, Hero raises A:[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] to $70, CO folds, Villain calls, blinds fold.

Flop ($170) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Hero bets $140, Villaiin calls

Turn ($450) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Hero bets $385, Villain calls

River ($1220) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Hero checks... (has $1550 behind)

or do you put him on Ax and think I am losing value?

i would bet...he has Ax here way more than something like busted flush draw...if he has two pair, you're gonna get paid off anyway

i presume you mean a "blocker" to induce him to push river rather than genuinely looking for a cheap showdown here?!

either way id just pot the river, its the type of board he should look you up light on

i'd shove, but that goes well with my game. most people should probably check. most people will value bet AK here anyways, if they are any good...

potting is pretty silly with these stacks

and the way the hand played out, i just don't know what he's paying off a shove with. most people are 3-betting AQ preflop and not paying off the river, so i really think the best hand he can have other than a chop is like AT. i guess we can hope he makes a hero call with TT or AT. but a blocking bet might induce a shove, and it looks like a "i have a busted draw and i think you have a busted draw so ill bet small" bet

i'm actually probably underestimating ohw often he makes a hero call since his hand looks so weak and he should know that

debatable

fake blocker is interesting, but I don't really use blocking bets much period

I think you need to value bet the river. With a set, he should've raised flop or turn with the str and flush draws present. Get paid.
