Default Re: 3/5 Live, big river decision with full house, call or go to valuetown?

You are close to getting him to call a push. If he only has 600 and has already thrown roughly 240 of it in so far......
With the casino rule of Min raise = double bet, this would put him in to the pot for 460+. So I am almost thinking that if he is willing to call the min bump he would call the addional 140 all in. Would never hurt to min bump as a min.

Either way.. I say NO on the Fold, NO on the just call. Yes on the Min raise by you. IF he thinks he has anything, he will call and/or push in his remaining 140

I think you are ahead most of the time here and I think there is value in raising.

almost no way he would bet a set or 2pair on flop then check turn when 3rd diamond comes off. No reason to say he would def. bet turn if he was agg enough to bet flop, not everyone uses coherent logic, especially at a relatively small live game.

I would say a big percent of the time he has the flush and hardly ever has you beat. At least minraise, but I'd probably move it in. as long as you're acting id wait awhile and then move it in, maybe he'll think you read weakness--but don't ham it up, just take your time.
just a suggestion, but absolutely raise.

meehhhhh.

first of all, yeah, your act on the turn is pretty lol bad, but it also works on this type of player way too often for some reason, so he might well have checked back with a set or two pair. after the turn he can also have a flush, or a bunch of other, weaker hands, of course.

but once the river gets 3bet you can basically narrow his range to the nut flush or better. maybe throw in a 2nd nut flush every now and then, but most guys like this just don't three-bet the river with a ten high flush here after you checkraise a river bet and a call.

this is very read dependent, but there's a big difference between someone who overvalues top pair on the flop, like most of these typical guys do, and someone who three-bets a river check-raise on this board.

i wouldn't really read anything into him seeming pissed when they correct his bet, old guys don't like to be corrected by anybody.

i don't think this is such an easy raise. there are a lot of players against whom i just call here. people who say definitely raise: do you think he is threebetting this river with a ten-high flush, or naked trips?

I thought about reraising, decided that 55 was the only hand that would call my reraise (and felt this was outweighed by the other combined combos of 86s, 88, and JJ) and so I decided to call. Villain shows the ace high flush and I am of course immediately mad at myself for not getting more value. I talked to two of my friends who both play in this game regularly and they both said they'd raise... just wanted to post on here to get a general consensus.

One last question which hasn't been addressed that much...assuming that we do decide to raise and assuming that we aren't worried too much about metagame, what is the ideal amount to raise? min raise? 200 more? shove for 400 more?

lol at shoving unless villian is a complete bozo. just call river.
i feel this forum is going downhill fast

i guess you havent played this type of live medium stakes game before. villain probably is a complete bozo willing to lose all of his chips on a paired board with the nut flush.

[/ QUOTE ]i'm pretty sure baris is a live pro (from turning stone) and has played mid stakes live a ton.

which is why im surprised his answer isnt to take it to SHOVE TOWN
