Thinking charcoal >>>> frying pan has become so standard. You should turn around if you want to show you don't share the taste of the masses.

and just grilling a filet is a sure sign that you don't know what you're doing... charcoal grills work fine for new yorks and rib-eyes, but you need a little more for a good filet

I usually sear it in a hot skillet to lock in the juices , then leave it in a 200 degree oven till it's a little under done.

then i grill it a few minutes on each side.... the low heat oven does a good job relaxing the meat... you can break it apart with a fork

Lol, Alton Brown would bitch slap you for that one.

i'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or what's going on but mcgee's books are fascinating reads. start with the curious cook and read chapter one on teh fallacy of searing to lock in juices. it's eye opening.

Where's NT! with the googletarding lock and ban? You can certainly locate hundreds, if not thousands, of steak preparation methods by searching Google. How does discussing how to cook a steak add more or less than discussing dinner ideas, travel ideas, or a discussion of OOTiots favorite action/adventure video games.

NT! = Inconsistent, arbitrary power-tripping mod.

Again, I like threads like these personally.

I actually had no clue he had anything out besides on food and cooking. I'd rather read a dictionary.

Just use a lil olive oil and 5-spice seasoning, grill for 5 minutes on each side...
