Default Thinking about a trade in my keeper hockey league

Our rules are 20 players a guy (8 of us total) with only the top 12 players counting. Only points matter, nothing else, and only first place gets paid. This being a keeper league we also obviously care about the future potential of our players.

This is our first year, and everyone else seems to be so focused on future prospects I've decided I want to make a run for first now. I have a decent lead over the other guys in expected points for this year, so I'm not that worried, but I'm by no means a lock. I'd say of my top 15 expected players this year, I'm 1.5-2 pts. per player ahead of the next guy. I'm thinking about making this trade:

My guys:
Jokinen
A. Kostitsyn
Horcoff

For:
Kovachuk
Hejduk
Forsberg (just a throwaway long-shot)

Thoughts? Will his help me much this season, will this hurt/help me in the long run? I don't expect to use forsberg honestly, but I have a decent crop of other emerging talents. My whole team in case it matters:

1. Thornton
2. Jokinen
3. Vanek
4. Alfresson
5. Afinogenov
6. Sakic
7. S. Kozlov
8. Ryan Whitney
9. Smyth
10. Naslund
11. Connolly
12. Jordan Staal
13. A. Kostitsyn
14. BrinD'Amour
15. Gonchar
16. Sullivan
17. Horcoff
18. Satan
19. Recchi
20. Kovalev

And yes I know Slava Koslov might be the worst pick ever.

Let me clarify -- only the top 12 players on your roster, i.e. the 12 who score the most points, count?

If that's the case, I think it'll be an alright deal. Forsberg won't do much for you, but I think:

Kovalchuk >= Jokinen (it's pretty close, though)
Hejduk + Forsberg > Kostitsyn + Horcoff

I don't like it just for this reason:
- Jokinen is a "beast" and should be good for 90 pts +/- 5.
- Kovalchuk's point totals could be higher but he might only score in the 70's ... Atlanta might be in a lot of turmoil
- Horcoff is ready for a bounce back year while Hejduk could be on a downswing if for lack of ice time now (added Smyth, Wolski & Stastny to take on bigger roles)
- If FORS comes back, I would think he's going to be babied for the reg season so he's 100% for the playoffs

Sounds like a good deal for you. Kovalchuk should get more points than Jokinen. Hejduk is better than Horcoff. So as long as you can wait until December when Forsberg signs with someone, you'll probably win this deal.

Can anyone come up with a good counter argument?
