1. ATs in BB. MP1 raises, all fold to you in the BB...
Depending on MP1 I either call or raise, I'm 3banging if he's a LAG or if he's a little weak tight postflop.

2. AQo in SB. MP3 raises, Button calls, you ?...
3bang, get BB out of there.

3. JTs - UTG+2. Folded to you in UTG+2 ...
Loose passive game I'm limping, tight game I'm folding, loose aggro game I'm prolly folding as well.

4. 99 in BB. UTG+2 raises, SB calls, you ?...
calls, relative position sucks here & you'll have to play well post-flop.

5. 73o in BB. All fold to SB who raises. You ?...
fold

6. A3o in BB. Button raises, SB folds, you ?...
calls unless he's very tight & doesn't usually steal.

7. Q6o in SB. All fold to you ...
depending on BB I'll either raise or fold but against an unknown I lean towards raise slightly more.

8. A9s in CO. All fold to you ...
Raise that momma

9. QJo on Button. MP1 posts a blind, otherwise all fold to you ...
Loose blinds I call, otherwise raise

10. A8o on Button. UTG+1, MP2, MP3 limp, you ?...
I'd fold

I hope no one minds that I have given my preflop quiz a bump, for anyone who may not have seen it, and would like to have a go.

Thankyou for the responses so far and I will post how I played and try to make a few obversations shortly.

Ok, Here are the results from the quiz:

1. ATs in BB. MP1 raises, all fold to you in the BB...

The overwhelming response was to call, with a couple of posters even considering to re-raise. I think I lost my 2+2 badge on this hand because I actually folded. I thought this would be a tricky hand to play OOP if I made a pair on the flop, but just have to learn how to play wa/wb I guess.

2. AQo in SB. MP3 raises, Button calls, you ?...

Divided opinion here, a couple of posters considered folding, but the rest were split between calling or reraising, with the slight majority preferring to reraise to drive out the BB.

I chose to call.

3. JTs - UTG+2. Folded to you in UTG+2 ...

Mixed opinion with this hand. The majority called, but several posters chose to fold, including myself. Interestingly Bozlax chose to raise. Thoughts Boz ?

4. 99 in BB. UTG+2 raises, SB calls, you ?...

Pretty much everyone (including myself) liked to call here, apart from Eskimo who preferred to raise. Thoughts Eskimo ?

5. 73o in BB. All fold to SB who raises. You ?...

No one wanted to play this hand. I folded, but actually considered calling (as did Eskimo) as you are getting 3:1 to call. Those are actually pretty good odds against anything other than an overpair. Thoughts anyone ?

6. A3o in BB. Button raises, SB folds, you ?...

No clear concensus with this one. Most posters wanted to fold this hand, as I did, but almost as many preferred to call. A few considered reraising. The button could be trying to steal, you have an Ace, but your kicker is weak. Thoughts anyone ?

7. Q6o in SB. All fold to you ...

Mixed views with this hand also. A number of posters chose to fold, but more chose to raise. Some posters were considering either folding or raising. I chose an unusual play by calling, with the intention of betting any flop. I thought this might look less like a steal to my opponent. Thoughts anyone ?

8. A9s in CO. All fold to you ...

Everyone was happy to raise here. Glad that I did not lose another 2+2 badge by doing anything else.

9. QJo on Button. MP1 posts a blind, otherwise all fold to you ...

Once again everyone chose to raise, as I also did.

10. A8o on Button. UTG+1, MP2, MP3 limp, you ?...

The majority chose to fold this hand, as I did because I did not feel that the hand would play well multiway. However, a few posters preferred to call, amongst them Bozlax and Eskimo. Thoughts for calling ?

Well, I hope that you enjoyed the quiz and I look forward to seeing any further thoughts from anyone on any of the hands.

replying w/o looking at responses, also disclaimer that party .25/.5 is prob a lot diff game than what i'm playing at the moment:

1. ATs in BB. MP1 raises, all fold to you in the BB...
i 3bet some of the time and call some of the time.

2. AQo in SB. MP3 raises, Button calls, you ?...
i 3bet some of the time and call some of the time.

3. JTs - UTG+2. Folded to you in UTG+2 ...
i raise this some and fold it some. i might limp if the table had been very limpy but my default is raise or fold.

4. 99 in BB. UTG+2 raises, SB calls, you ?...
i call here and look at flop texture to decide whether to c/r or b/3b or ck/fold.

5. 73o in BB. All fold to SB who raises. You ?...
fold, lol

6. A3o in BB. Button raises, SB folds, you ?...
reads are nice here. i 3bet some, call some, and fold some.

7. Q6o in SB. All fold to you ...
raise if my image is good, fold if it's not, raise if the guy is weak at all or too tight in the blinds.

8. A9s in CO. All fold to you ...
lol raise

9. QJo on Button. MP1 posts a blind, otherwise all fold to you ...
easy raise

10. A8o on Button. UTG+1, MP2, MP3 limp, you ?...
i call some and i fold some. would depend on reads/table image/table dynamics.

Default Re: A Preflop Quiz

The problem with including hands 5-7 on a quiz like this is that these quizzes are meant to give you the "starting hand chart" answer for situations like this, while these are the types of situations where hand charts are at their worst. Especially since it changes from game to game. At .50/1 I practically never blind steal with hands like 57s, and I wouldn't do it against skilled blinds who defend a lot, but at 3/6 where even a lot of the best players are nits and not tricky enough postflop, I would steal with that and maybe even worse. And I'd actually rather have 79s than A3o in that A3o hand, if the raiser is the type that's going to make me work to get to a showdown (if he always gives up on the flop or turn with no pair then A3o is better).

In fact, given the right reads I could see any of the three options on all 3 hands, except I can't come up with a read that says to fold hand 7 unless it's "I'm the fish here and need to move to another table."

straight up value. its marginal and i certainly dont hate a call.

at .25/.50 i figure we have enough postflop edge to make this up. its close and again, i dont hate folding and moving to the next hand. i wouldnt fold twice against the same SB tho consecutively like ever.

Button, we have a good ace and great position over the field. i think this is a pretty clear call. from the CO ill probly let go of it tho as we cant be assured of absolute position.
