reasoning for flop check as he is liable to call it and bet turn and i don't want to get committed here

on river, i put villain on some sort of PP lower than mine.

in this hand, i took a long time and checked to look weak and the guy checked behind but is it more +ev to just bet out

Checks fine here IMO. If he has a King he'll usually bet. If he has the case J we miss value, but whatev. If he was drawing, he either got there or missed, and he'll bet. He shows up with no-wins and Ace high a bunch here, so might as well let him take shots with them.
