You definitely did not went too far, and he (wheelchair dude) who can come up with such great insult will have no problem whatsoever to deal with your 'whatever it was'.

The way I see it, he hit you with a cannon, and in return you shot back at him with a blank!

I guess with the op, and your post tdarko, I misunderstood. I have no problem calling anyone a cun*, a-hole, etc, but Id never hit someone with the n-word, crippy, etc.

When people are insulting each other, are there boundaries that shouldn't be crossed?

Here's the situation that elicits the question. On another forum I'm hated by many, often flamed because of my views and inability to turn the other cheek. So this wheelchair bound crippled guy decides to join in on the fun. Here's the exchange that took place:

Illeagle's a keeper. As much fun as the Black Plague, broken ribs and chronic IBS. He's brought nothing but joy into my internet life. Dante wrote about your future Mr. Illeagle. Enjoy.

[/ QUOTE ]

To this I simply replied:

Am I as much fun as legs that don't work?

[/ QUOTE ]

So tell me, did I go too far? Should I have reigned myself in and not treated this disabled guy the same way I treat able-bodied people? Was it unfair of me to refer to his physical disability after he inferred I am spiritually and morally disabled?

[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmm... I dunno. When I make the effort to insult someone, I try to hit them where it hurts their ego. But I wouldn't use anything they can't change against them. I'd aim for something that the person believes he/she is good at and take that apart.
In this case, the dude obviously seems very chaffed about his wittiness, intelligence, and knowledge of Dante.

I'd probably opt for something in the line of

Wait a second... Aren't those almost the exact words your mom uttered just before she "accidentally" dropped you on your head?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure with a bit more time on your hands you can come up with way better lines than that.

Holy [censored]. I got banned for this [censored]. Guess I need to work on letting cripples insult me with no repurcussions.

Here's how it went down. What a bunch of bitches.

illeagle,

Why were you on that board, wtf? I would feel miserable chatting with all of those other miserable people. So it is just a bunch drunks congregating, so like a bar on the net, that is so weird.

You were relentless in that thread. No wonder nobody liked you there, now don't get me wrong those people there are dumbs as rocks, talking about kitty cats and cognac and brothers turning guns on them, wtf? Anyway, I would have found you annoying...I don't see what you were banned for, thread should have just been locked, unless you are always an [censored] and never post anything with any content.

I posted plenty with content bro, just search my posting history. But when anyone decided to flame me I'd flame right back. That was the problem.

You're obviously a douchebag. Why do you need the validation of others to continue on this path?

PS There's no "art" to identifying a readily apparent weakness in another person and making a joke about it. Seventh-graders are great at this.
