Top Pair and kicker versus a calling station
Did I misplay this hand. The villian is a calling station. His VPIP is about 32%. Among many possiblities, I put him on a weak ace based on the action. This guy is not real aggresive. The bet on the end should have been my clue that I was beat.

Re: Top Pair and kicker versus a calling station
I'm folding river. We have a weak Ace against a very passive player. If they get aggressive they really have a hand most of the time.

Re: Top Pair and kicker versus a calling station
From what I've seen at these limits, people don't reraise a/k or a/q ever. I think you are likely second best since your jack or club didn't come, fold the river.

[/ QUOTE ] Lets have a quick look at those weak Aces. We beat - A3/5/6/8/T We are beaten by A2/4/7/9 plus higher kickers obv. [ QUOTE ] This guy is not real aggresive. The bet on the end should have been my clue that I was beat. [/ QUOTE ] DING! If a CS bets out on teh river after calling down good sized bets flop and turn you are almost always beat - and they are bluffing here so close to never that it's best just to fold. He has one of those weak aces that made 2pair (I'd guess A4/A7) or he has a bigger hand than that like a flopped set that he was slowplaying) nh until the river - solid Value betting our TPGK with nfd vs a CS is good stuff. River is a fold tho. |

Re: Top Pair and kicker versus a calling station
Like the play up till river. Calling stations are not going to fold their top pair regardless of kicker. He could well have made a set but I think that's less likely than 2 pair. If a passive station starts betting into you on the river, alarm bells should be ringing that you're most likely beat.

Re: Top Pair and kicker versus a calling station
Perfect play until the river. You had an excellent holding considering your outs. Calling stations will rarely come out with this type of river bet without a significant hand. I'm thinking a set. Folding river
