Some begginers stupid questions
Im reading a book called "sit-N-go strategy" as i read this book im going to be asking a lot of stupid questions... it says in low blinds to try to steal the pot with AA through QQ to avoid playing a pot. I have queens guy ahead of me raised to 120 (blinds at 30-60) so i should bet enough to steal ? if he folds i gained 210 in chips? was it worth it ? my question is why should i avoid playing a pot ? |

Re: Some begginers stupid questions
1. A steal attempted is considered raising from the CO (cutoff) or one behind on the button only when it folds around to you . When someone in front of you raises and you have position you generally want to build the pot up pre flop. You don't want to win 4bb when you can win alot more with JJ-AA. Purchase Harrington on hold em and start from there.

Re: Some begginers stupid questions
Why were all the replies deleted from this thread? Oh well. I tried. There is a thread in the beginners forum by the author of a sit-n-go book. He says to ask him basic questions and he will answer it. The thread is a few pages in. I would post the link again, but it got deleted already, as did a post suggesting you post in the STT (single-table tournament) forum here. Why are mods are deleting these posts?

Re: Some begginers stupid questions
early on in that situation I'd play it safe...JJ or QQ I don't mind seeing CC to see a flop. If there are no overcards, you have position on the guy and you can take advantage of the situation. A or K comes out, I'd be very ready to let it go if he bets out. It's early...wait for a better situation.

Re: Some begginers stupid questions
By only betting when an overcard doesn't come you are going to be betting when you have the best hand and probably aren't going to get called. If you do get called it will probably be by a better hand. You also become easy to bluff on a board with A/K.
'it says in low blinds to try to steal the pot with AA through QQ to avoid playing a pot.' This is awful advice in my opinion. Get Harrington on Hold'em volumes 1 and 2 and read those instead. Most SNGs have quick blind structures so you should definately be trying to get your money in with QQ and usually even JJ unless there is strong evidence your beat. |
