Default Norton vs Outlook -- Old guy needs help

I did not renew my Norton subscription because Comcast offered free McAfee coverage. When I used the Norton uninstaller (from the Norton website) everything seemed to go okay.

When my wife logged in to her Outlook account (We each have our own log-in for our individual email) she gets a bunch of errors that she has to click or cancel on before Outlook is available. I have searched and found several websites that say that Norton is the culprit and I am SOL.

Is this the case? If so, will reinstalling Outlook solve my problem? If I need to reinstall Outlook, what besides my contact, calendar, email and to do lists do I need to save? Is there an easy way to back-up this info and then restore it after the reinstall?

Thanks in advance.

Look for a program called Outback Plus. It will back up all your info in Outlook, stuff that isn't in the .PST. Then you can do an uninstall of Outlook if you need to.

Things to try first; Look around in the Outlook options and see if you can turn off virus checking of the email.
If your version supports this try and do a repair install of Outlook and see if that will get rid of the problem without having to nuke anything. Go into the control panel > add remove programs and get rid of anything with the word Norton in it. You should do that last one regardless.

Step 3. Install Windows Installer Cleanup
1.Go to www.microsoft.com
2.Search for: 290301 (windows installer cleanup) from the search bar
3.Click on the first result: Description of the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
4.Click on the link for: Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility pack now

Run the program and see if you can find the Norton software.
