I think stealthmunk's point about old guy almost always shoving AA preflop is very good. He might, but in general it's probably very unlikely that he slowplays at that point.

[/ QUOTE ]

So you win 1500 from him when he has QQ, you lose 5k to him when he has AA, when he has KK, you either lose 5k to his shove, or are at a disadvantage as he is more likely to take you off of it than you are to take him off of his KK.

If he raises like TT, AQs etc, 5k may be correct, but I just think his 3betting range is too tight, after seeing IWearGoggles bustout hand, I am also less interested in 4bet folding than I would have been beforehand.

I guess I just don't understand life players.

[/ QUOTE ]

1. He doesn't fold QQ, or AKs, necessarily. He likely doesn't have a clue how strong you are here and when he is thinking he is merely thinking of how much the 5k chips will cost his "life" (stack)
2. He probably instashoves AA and tries to look as weak as possible. Or hollywoods and shoves AA.

completely agree w/ timex....also u should bet the turn.

I think with only 1.5 PSB's its hard to make a good bet here, are you thinking of betting like 4k or like 8k?

I definitely think I like betting if its shallower or deeper, but of you bet 4k and get shoved on, whats your play? If you bet 8k and get shoved on, whats your play?

I don't mind a bet here, it just seems like given the described villain, there may be more equity in check calling.

[/ QUOTE ]

He'd have to bluff with AK a decent chunk of the time for check/call to be a good idea. I don't think there's a chance in hell that he checks down all the way with AA here, so you're gonna have to call a bet from that if you don't bet yourself.

And I do think there's value in betting against JJ, since he probably feels like his hand is good here (and can put you on AK if nothing else).

I'm pretty sure if he raises me again at any point in the hand I have an easy fold, but I prefer waiting to the river because when he can just call and see my hand it's very unlikely he'll ever accidentally bluff me and I'll also get looked up lighter. Plus I still have to very worried about QQ when he checks the flop.

bet/fold, but i didn't realize we only had 1.5psb left. in that case i think checking is okay because aa/qq might flat and we might incorrectly value shove river(though i wouldn't, more on this in a second). i definitely value bet river once it goes chk chk chk chk...but if i had bet turn and got flatted i would have c/f riv for sure because i think if he randomly gets here w/ aq/jj he folds to river shove and if we have him beat he checks behind, i don't think the described guy is ever value betting river w/ aq/jj.

Pre-flop is fine IMO. I think turn is fine because turn is bet/fold. Bet/call river unless it's some massive 'got you' raise.
