Re: Did I play this AK fine?
your 3bet is way to small. at least 3. You gave them great odds to set mine.

Re: Did I play this AK fine?
No.
Pre-flop raise must be larger...like $2.75-$3.50 Personally I just call UTG's raise. Sure I'm getting all-in but if he's trying some weird bluff I want to let him keep it up on the turn. And I don't want to give AT or w/e a reason to fold. |

Re: Did I play this AK fine?
Thanks for replies. I'm feeling a bit lost when sizing my 3bets. Should it be 3x the amount of money already in the pot or some other formula?

[/ QUOTE ] I usually make it 3.5 times the raise, but more when other people are in the pot and definitely more if there's a caller of the raise in between. |

Re: Did I play this AK fine?
more stuff goes into it.
if you are OOP it shoulld be larger if there are limpers or any cold calls it should be larger if the raiser is very loose then i'm going to make it bigger and so on. |

Re: Did I play this AK fine?
I hate when this happens to me, 20/15's limping UTG (and then calling a raise and a re-raise cold) to me is a small pocket pair most the time. If the villian really is solid he won't be calling you with anything you beat. Any ace big enough for him to call with he should have raised pf.
Folding seems way to weak tight here, I think the best (and by that I mean least bad) option is to call the check raise and let him continue betting it for you, this is definitely a wa/wb situation. |

Re: Did I play this AK fine?
Only a set beats you here, and I think he probably has a set quite a lot. The c/r is very strong, but I still probably get it AI here if villain is fishy and expect to see AT/AJ/PPs a lot. Vs a decent TAG, I would fold to the c/r.

Re: Did I play this AK fine?
Probably would have made the PF raise bigger to crush the set miners. However, you're probably getting AI with the best of it here. You're at your commitment threshold, so this is the point in time where you need to decide whether you want all your chips in the pot or not.
If you push now, he either folds or calls. If you call here, he either bets and you call almost without thought since you've already made that decision; or else he checks and you're gonna bet. I wouldn't let him see another card without having to make a decision against my AI. |
