You STFU, SO i guess nobody in the record industry complains about p2p file sharing and cd copying... Yeah, i must be lost...

Hmmm, i wonder why they complain about those things? Maybe because they aren't making as much money as they could be?

Hmmmmm.....

There are alot of artists from the 90's that are nowhere near as rich as Jay-Z and Diddy. They are both rich due to other ventures not their music careers, Diddy was rich long before he put out a record. Artists these days make most of their money of tours, not record sales, in fact record sales money is mostly used to pay back studio advances the artists recieve.

Net Worth comes from income initially. Where else do you think it comes from?

[/ QUOTE ]

Appreciation of assets. Unless you think that Bill Gates has received over $110 billion in income.

their investments return less than 10% would only be accurate... manage their portfolios themselves on Etrade.

It is very, very difficult to find a money manager that consistently returns over 10% after-tax, and most of them are closed. I manage over $1bn, so if you have some names for me, I'm all ears. Individuals still have to pay income and cap gains on asset appreciation.

Pharrell can't incorporate himself, he is not a charity, he is still subject to 401[k]/ira limits.

8% post-tax is 12-14% pretax, depending on trading strategy and types of gains.
Muni bonds are yielding 5% or less by comparison. An extra 3% is a ton more.

Also, I would guess from my knowledge of similar celebrities, that he spends >50% of his income. And most certainly did in early years as he bought houses, cars, boats, etc.

As I demonstrated using very reasonable [and favoring PW in many cases, like 8% after-tax] I showed a $35-45mm net worth factoring in appreciation of his assets.

Thanks for playing.

Id assume a large portion of their investments is realestate and business ventures as opposed to money markey instruments.

You have to be very naive to believe that the income available for public records is anywhere close to their real income. These guys are most certainly silent partners in dozens of business ventures and deal making probably goes something like this: 120 g'z for the record, make 20 g'z of that in cash.
