Default Quick Vegas bar question.

A couple of friends are going to be out in Vegas in a few weeks, and are looking for a couple cool bars to drink/hang out at while they're there.

They are NOT looking for 'clubs', so to speak. Just cool, chill bars that serve beer and appetizers, have bar games, sports on several TVs, blah blah blah.

Any help would be appreciated.

Everybody loves Carnival Court. Everybody. It's not a sports bar, by any stretch. But it's got a live music stage, bartenders with flair, food, it's outdoors, and people just rave about how wonderful it is.

Personally I think if you just want to sit around and chill and drink beer, the keno lounge at Fitzgeralds is great. They still have the booths and you can get 6 folks around the table and get plenty of beverages for the cost of a toke. It's isolated, and quiet. But no sports on TV that I recall, unless you consider a Keno board "sports".

I hate that place, so not "everybody". I'd choose a chill locals lounge with sports on TV anyday over carnival court.

Carnival being the operative word.

Tourist trap being the truth.

I'm assuming you are looking for something on the strip.

Try the brew pub at the Monte Carlo (they no longer brew but they still call it a brew pub).

Downtown consider the 777 Brew Pub at Main Street Station.

You might also try Tobey Keith's at Harrahs, or Maragartiville at Flamingo, Kahunaville atTI. The bar by the Sportsbook at Paris apparently serves food, so you could try that.

Just about every casino has small bar/lounges but most don't serve food. so depending on how important that is to you it narrows your choices.

If you have a car, I liked the Crown and Anchor.

Go to the bar by the Exxon on S. Flamingo....get your car washed while you enjoy good food/cheap drinks/friendly staff. Then travel further South to Lee's Discount Liquors to finish the job.

The bar next to the sports book at the Wynn overlooks the sports book almost like a balcony, so you can see their screens. A number of other sports books, like Bally's, have a similar setup.

Won't see many chicks in them though.

Not a bad place when I tried it out two years back. Not really a "cool" place, but decent food and beer, where you could kind of just chill with your friends.
