Default 2/4 Stud8 - two pair, no low

I have a feeling my key mistake in this hand was not folding on 3rd or 4th. I’m curious if others would play this hand.

Assuming/pretending that it is a playable hand, should I have raised on 5th or 6th and do I have to call the two bets on the river?

I am never playing (J8)J with five players acting behind me. That said, I'm never playing (K8)K with 5 players acting behind unless there is one or less door card below a 9. After that, your hand improves on 4th and 5th, and you're stuck in the hand. Playing this three-handed is really difficult. On the river, I think it's pretty clear you're beat for the high. If Seat 7 doesn't have a straight, Seat 2 looks like he either backed into a wheel or a flush. There's also a very very slim possibility he has something like (64)2KQ5(A) and is raising to give himself a chance at a scoop if Seat 7 has no pair.

As played, I think this river is a fold, but I would bet 5th street. If Seat 7 raises, hopefully Seat 2 will fold and I'm calling down. If seat two raises, I fold.

While I also fold this on 3rd, you have to get rid of it on 4th after the 4 catches an Ace. He either has four babies or he paired the Ace. With the third guy in, they're going to make it expensive for you to continue. Spare yourself a lot of pain and ditch this dog early.

I will sometimes play this for a raise on third. I'm the high pair on the board, and my low kicker is live. Less experienced players aren't giving up very much by folding.

Once the ace fall, though, I'm completely done with the hand.

I like the 3rd st completion, but you've got to fold 4th street. Don't invest another nickle in the hand. Not folding in that position is quite a leak.
