Default PS 100+9 - AA - Ugly Flop

Slightly higher level of tournament than usual, so I expect some higher level thinking.

Very early. Had a maniac at the table moving in every hand - it's taken 15+ hands for him to bust, so this is essentially the 2nd or 3rd "normal" hand of tourney. As such, not many reads, but I am assuming the average player to be TAG. The Villain in this situation proved to be a solid, nothing out of line type of player. No HH.

Blinds 15-30. Hero at approximately 2,600 chips. Villain has about 5,800 (having had the fortune to have a hand against the maniac).

Deal to hero in UTG+1 A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

UTG limps. I thought about trying the 2nd hand low here, but decided to raise in the hope that this might be a limp with AK or KK and I'd get a RR. Hero raises to 150. Villain calls in H/J, blinds fold, UTG calls.

Three to the flop. 495 in the pot.

Flop: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

UTG checks. Hero?

ugly but make a solid pottish bet ($450?)...more that you would with a whiffed AK...I think I'm hoping for a reraise and so I can get it in but that may a lazy line...I hate having the villan call with position and so many turn cards hurt us

No other comments? OK, that seems pretty standard.

Hero bets 400 or 450 (can't recall exactly, just that I had precisely 2000 left after the bet). Villain raises to 2500 (I believe he didn't shove, just raised enough to cover both UTG and myself) QUICKLY.

Hero?

I would make a pot size bet on the flop, but if you are flat called or raised I would consider laying down this hand early. Too many hands beat you with the types of hands they could have (pk 7s, 8s, or 9s; any connectors 56, 78, 89, 10J.) If they raise your bet I'd say best case scenario is that they have a flush draw, which means they still have a lot of outs. If they flat call see what the turn brings and go from there.

I would check the flop here and try and play a small pot.

OK, I can see the wisdom of checking, but I have giving up initiative. However, now that we have been raised AI (UTG folded), and it's 2000 to call with with approx 3400 in the pot, what do you do? What's his range? He raised QUICKLY.

puke and ask the better players on the forum what to do next...does 1010-QQ ever play this way? combo draw definitely...dunno...2K is enough to keep going with but I think you're ahead a fair amount...I expect to see JJ quite often

sick board... question is would he play a set or the nuts this way? Or just call or make a smaller raise?

I don't play 100 tourney's so i don't know if the opposition get's better. where I play strong means weak and weak means strong. so I am inclined to think this is some sort of combo draw.

I havent read any replies.
I bet 450, call a shove of any of the two players.
A shove from UTG could mean set but it can also be 66,TT,JJ or even something retarded. A shove from The Hijack can mean more drawing hands so its an even easier call IMO.
If there is a call then I dunno what to do if a scare card comes, I shove a non scare card. A non [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] that doesnt connect the board counts as a nonscare against UTG.
