Default CHESS ON ICC

Who here has ICC? Been playing a lot lately, I figure I could start some therad and use it to rant when I lose some stupid game or brag when I play like a big genius.

Basically when I play chess online I like to take the games real seriously, study the openings figure out some psychological weaknesses. So I could just post some funny positions in here or something. Is it easy to post positions on 2+2?

Not me, but I'd love to see you annotate some of your better games.

but ok a good example is a game I had earlier today. I was playing some guy like 300 points lower than me and was up a pawn in a quiet position with like a minute up on the clock. I now decided I could read OOT while playing, and somehow the guy wasn't falling apart like he was supposed to. Eventually I just gave away a pawn for free and got real pissed. Then we got this position where he ahd like 30 seconds and I had under 15, and he was better. He repeated moves a few times and I could have just taken a draw, but for some sick reason I decided not to. This is a common error in judgement I've exhibited many times, being unable to submit to a draw when I really really feel like I shuold have won earlier in the game. Of course I lost very quickly.

Does anyone know an easy way to post a position?

If you look at one of the threads about recent chess games, a couple of people have links to sites that let you set up board positions. You can then use a site like photobucket.com or imageshack.com to host the pictures and post them here.

Ok....I'll log some games. So I play the 5 minute system on ICC, which means you type in the number 5, and it randomly pairs you with someone similar to your rating, whom is also in the pool. My rating right now is like 2420. The highest rated guys are about 2700. Don't confuse this rating system with the "blitz" rating system, in which ratings are much higher. These ratings are often close to real life ratings.

Also the openings I play:

With white I play the English every game, and generally try to avoid any sharp theory and simply play chess.

With black I'm learning completely new openings in the French Defense and the Slav (a rarer branch with 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.nf3 nf6 4.nc3 a6). My whole life I played stuff like the Dragon Sicilian, Grunfeld, Nimzo Indian, and I just decided to switch to something very solid.

My style of play is pretty practical, in that I don't do anything crazy most of the time, and just try to grind down my opponents. This is in stark contrast to my style when I was younger and more active, in which I was known for being a tactical type of player. I think my experience with poker has made me into a more practical player.

Anyway, my first game was against some 2270 guy named Ratcatcher. I had white, he defended with the Hedgehog. The Hedgehog is my nightmare opening, as I tried to study how to play it for white and after endless amounts of time, I finally decided I liked nothing, and would just play some random moves and try to get some kind of playable normal position that suits my style.

This game I got a reasonable position and after looking it over I see that I missed a chance to win a pawn, although it's very difficult to see while playing...

At this point I could play 18.Bxe5 and if 18...Nd3 19. Bc7! Qd5+ 20.Nf3 and black cannot capture on c1 because the knight is pinned. Of course during the game I didn't even see that I could capture on e5

In any case I played the stupid Nc4 in which my opponent responded by sticking a knight on d3, put his pawn on e4....had this nightmare piece on d3 torturing me the whole game. Eventually he broke through and won the exchange, and then a piece, thus was up a whole rook. Then of course his flag fell and he insulted me after the game. I basically told him if he wants to beat me he should challenge me to 6 minute chess next time.
