I remember a Tokyo from FICS, he was a young kid who was very good. Maybe the same one?

I used to be pretty good at zh too, havent played much in the last couple years tho. Returning to the original topic, I watched curtains play on ICC yesterday, he needs to lose a 5-min game or two and I'll pass him in ratings (he played pretty well tho)

Tokyo, are you tokyo on Chess Live? If so you kicked my butt a few times about 5 years ago and gave me some good pointers. Thanks!

[/ QUOTE ]

US Chess live? I'd like to take credit, and I did play there at about that time, but I didn't use this name, in fact this name idea didn't come into existence until last year some time. Plus, I'm not that good at chess .

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, US Chess Live, but they don't seem to call it that anymore. Place is pretty ghost town compared to FICS and ICC, and the software hates to connect. Hilarious that ICC's "new" software is nearly identical to USCL 5 year old software. Hope it doesn't have connection troubles as well, although I don't play there now that they banned guest play.

I was lookingup stuff on FIDE time constraints, and found that they recently tried to change the format to something like 75 min for 40 moves, 15 min afterwards, with a small increment per move after 40.

---

What were the original time constraints? Did this measure eventually pass or what?

I used to be pretty good at suicide chess, although I feel classical chess is a deeper game. I haven't played either in awhile, though.

I'm pretty good and Fischer Random, probably because the weakest part of my chess game is I don't know enough openings.

I strongly doubt it is possible to significantly stronger in FR than normal chess. My guesstimation would be that the gap can't possibly be more than 200 rating points even in the most extreme case.

I agree; and also, the weaker you are, the lower this number should be.
