Jason Bateman and Michael Cera? Say no more. It will be amazing.

Re: Fall \'07 Movie Thread
American Gangster seems like a can't miss for me- I can't remember the last bad movie that Russel Crowe made, and a smiliar sentiment can be said for Denzell, although he's had a questionable movie or two.

[ QUOTE ] 3:10 to Yuma - very entertaining. Good acting by many, hilariously horrible acting by Luke Wilson. Overall, quite a good movie. Not great in the way Unforgiven is great, but just a solid Western. Definitely worth watching. Also has extensive discussion thread in OOT. [/ QUOTE ] Ending was strange, but I enjoyed most of this flick. Which one was Luke Wilson? [/ QUOTE ] Luke Wilson isn't in the movie, El D is slightly confused - the part of Charlie Prince is played by Ben Foster, in my opinion a totally sick actor (he's also the meth-addicted Nazy from Alpha Dog). (Ben Foster ). To say I wasn't impressed with it would be an understatement - awesome acting gone horribly to waste due to a terrible plot. Saw it with a friend and we were both pissed and wanted to shoot the director. Kirk |

Saw Eastern Promises last night - very good, though surprisingly slow paced. Viggo was great and a nice little twist. Some serious gore and graphic scenes.

[/ QUOTE ] I also saw it lastnight at the arclight. I loved basically everything about this movie, including the pace. It looks like the critics love it too http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/eastern_promises/ Mortensen is really impressive in this. Really, everyone is great. The guy who played Kirill was so shocking and raw in parts of the movie. I liked how Naomi Watts was apparently out of make up for most of the movie, and let herself look like a real human being. Even the fighting was authentic. I believe the main fighting scene has sambo in it, which is an authentic russian martial art. It's what Fedor Emelianenko uses to crush his opponents. |

Re: Fall \'07 Movie Thread
Yesterday I took my 10 y/o son to The Game Plan with Dewayne "The Rock" Johnson and was pleasantly surprised. But I guess it was exactly what you should expect in a good way. I mean it's not going to win any awards but I've taken my son to many MANY movies and I've seen some pretty bad ones.
This one pulled on the emotional strings almost too much though. But I'm a pretty emotional person. I don't think this is a movie anyone above the age of 15 would really just love unless they were taking someone young so you can enjoy them enjoying the movie. |

The Mist
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EP-MHO_M6ik Based of off a Stephen King story normally I'd write it off as lame horror movie except for this written and directed by Frank Darabont Shawshank, The Green Mile, etc |

Re: Fall \'07 Movie Thread
The Mist actually looks pretty cool.
Here is a link to a thread I posted in OOT awhile back devoted to upcoming movies. A lot of the previews have been linked in this thread already, but there are a few good ones that havent. |
