Im certified as well. I doubt he will have to go inside the wreck unless the class covers the wreck diving specialty. I have my open water, night dive, first aid and wreck dive. Its loads of fun and chicks love it, after you get your certification you should try to get down to Mexico, Hawaii or if you can, the Great Barrier Reef.

I'm certified. A+ situation, makes for baller weekend outings/a nice moneysink to piss away all that excess cash you might have used some other way.

No, there will be no wreck penetration involved in a training course due to the high probability that you would die.

FYP.
Red Sea >>> Caribbean, Hawaii, and Australia imo.

Of course, being that your trip will involve small and large planes in the middle east, and/or being an American (I assume) in the middle east, YMMV.

I'm sure that we are just going to the shipwreck to learn how to dive around structures and be safe, etc...

I just wish it was spring so I could take it now. The classes start in two weeks so I don't have time to take them due to work and then the next classes all go down to Florida for the final dive which I may wait for depending on how much extra that cost but I really can not explain how excitied I am about this. This is one of those things I would have always talked about doing for the rest of my life but mever would have fold time for. So lucky to be able to do this since I turn 30 next year (even though I really still feel like I'm 22 or so) but its great to start off the next phase of life with something fun.

If money isn't an issue, I'd recommend hitting the class that goes down to Florida. I've dove a few of the deeper wrecks off the NC coast and once was enough for me. Cold water and low visibility were never my favorite things but its still definitely better than getting certified in a quarry.

Once you get into diving and make it somewhere tropical, even just the Florida keys. You'll see what I mean.
