I honestly don't understand why evg thinks he wouldn't bet 86/85/76/75/66/55 on the turn, or why it matters if he has a small diamond.

I realize you're implying that he wouldn't bet/fold a pair on this board, especially if it comes with a gutshot. I guess that's what I disagree with. It's not like I'm going to bluff the river that often when he checks back the turn, plus I could have a lot of outs and *not* shove him off the best hand or just fold a few outs, like AK no diamond. In both cases, betting is better than checking.

Plus, there's really no way to turn one pair into a bluff without betting the turn.

This hand is really interesting to me and the posts so far have been good. I hope more people comment.

As of right now I think I should have called.

LFTV, how often are you checking the turn to shove?

Based on my impression of you, the frequency is way too high (this is good) for gp to be betting a hand that usually has like 8+ outs, is never folding out a better hand, and is going to be shoved on a very high % of the time.

if he's betting those pair + gutshot hands without a diamond, he's got to bet/fold

if he has a diamond, he's got enough equity vs your range to bet/call IMO

also the fact that it's an overbet has to factor in somewhere; getting worse than 2-1.

this is 100000% wrong

It's not even 1% wrong.

as someone who makes more overbets than probably anyone else in ssnl/msnl, trust me that the overbet shouldn't define his hand any more than a regular sized bet would. i say this only ebcasue of how gp plays, not in general.

yes, of course you need to be correct in your read more often than if he bet less, but that's the whole point of balancing your overbets the way i do, gp does, and anyone else who routinely makes plays like this does

He just means you have to be right more often to be good on the river.

Anyway, river is a call cause like eric said there aren't that many hands in his range that beat us and he's turning lots of stuff into bluffs.
