I like these 2 formulas who are pretty simple:

The internetpokerrankings one,

Internet Poker Rankings calculates points based on the square root of the amount of money that player cashes in a tournament.

The Pocket fives one:

Points = (PrizePool^1/2) / (PlaceFinished^3/5)

- the tlb formula is Points = 10 * [sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)] * [1+log(b+0.25)], where n = your finish, k = entrants, b = buyin.

Replace square root with cube root.

It sounds math nerdy, but it's a pretty simple way of flattening the scores so solid cashes and smaller events won't be dwarfed by someone final tabling one of the big field events.

- You only get points if you cash (unlike tlb where it's top 15%), total points wins, no max on the number of events that count.

If you approve of this and want to do $500, post. If you want another scoring system, suggest it. And if anyone wants to organize a bigger $ one or do sidebets, obv go ahead.

The problem with this forumula is that it totally underweights the rebuy events. My advice would be to make the buyin for rebuy events equal to the total prizepool divided by the number of entrants.

I meant to include this; I agree and I said something about it in the OP.

For rebuys just use Prizepool/Players for the buyin.

It's pretty necessary to make sure the rebuy events get weighted properly. Other than that I don't have a strong opinion on how the scoring system is set up.

Also I would prefer a larger bet for this competition. I think an even 1k would be a good size, I mean we are already spending thousands on buyins for the WCOOP, let's make this competition meaningful.
