We have all heard stories about what happens when organized crime gets involved in the construction industry. Bad concrete, sub-standard parts, a few "ghost" employees on the payroll, cutting corners, it creates the potential for future problems, and adds to the cost of construction.

Well when it comes to crime, the crime family in this story makes even the biggest mob wise-guys look like little nickle and dime street corner hustlers.

When the Army Corps of Engineers solicited bids for drainage pumps for New Orleans, it copied the specifications — typos and all — from the catalog of the manufacturer that ultimately won the $32 million contract, a review of documents by The Associated Press found.

The pumps, supplied by Moving Water Industries Corp. of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and installed at canals before the start of the 2006 hurricane season, proved to be defective, as the AP reported in March. The matter is under investigation by the Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress.

In a letter dated April 13, Sen. David Vitter, R-La., called on the Corps to look into how the politically connected company got the post-Hurricane Katrina contract. MWI employed former Florida Gov.Jeb Bush, President Bush's brother, to market its pumps during the 1980s, and top MWI officials have been major contributors to the Republican Party.

So to those that point to Hurricane Katrina, and the government's clean-up efforts, and say it is a Bush "failure" -- How much of that $32 million contract do you think got kicked back to the Bush Crime Family coffers?

Turns out, Moving Water Industries has an interesting history. It’s a family-owned company founded back in 1926, but more recently has been a staunch ally and supporter of the Republican Party. Indeed its president, J. David Eller, is close friend of the . . . you guessed it . . . the Bush Crime Family.

In 1992 Moving Water Industries sold Nigeria $74.3-million-worth of giant water pumps and other equipment in a deal made possible by a loan from Export-Import Bank of the United States. Nigeria is about $23-million behind on its payments, and as the Miami Herald reported last year, many of the pumps were unaccounted for or sitting idle.

From 1989 to 1993, Capo Jeb Bush and Eller co-owned a company, Bush-El, that marketed Moving Water Industries pumps, which are used for flood control and irrigation.

Capo Jeb Bush traveled to Nigeria to help push the pump sales, and as son of the godfather president, received red-carpet treatment.

Turns out that the prices for the pumps were highly inflated and many of them could never be used because of infrastructure problems in Nigeria. According to one former employee, "It was the biggest scam I've ever seen in my life."

In any event, the whole deal was investigated by the FBI around the time that George "Dubya" Bush was a candidate for president, in line to replace the aging godfather, George Sr.

Jeb Bush never has had anything but praise for Eller. But the deal itself, Jeb Bush has acknowledged, has been a political migraine. "I made money. That's the only benefit I can see. Otherwise, it's been unmitigated grief."

I grant you, the Kennedy family was some hard-nosed old school gangstas. Obviously not hard-nosed enough, the Godfather died, and all the top capos for the seat got knocked off, leaving the family no leadership and only a ghost of it's former self.

The Clinton family looks like a bunch of girl scouts having a bake sale compared to either one of these families.

To me, there's a difference between exposing a specific scandal of the current rulers and an "ZOMG Bush is a liar" generality. Cardcounter's follow-up suggests that he sees this as more than a Dem vs Repub issue -- and it should be discussed as a case study in the govt-media-corporate Wizard of Oz world we live in, rather than dismissed.

This Bush Crime Family is almost unimaginable. Sure, there have been 'elites' in the past. Ike coined the phrase 'military-industrial complex'. The Kennedy clan made money on prohibition. Johnson was always a public servant on a measly public salary, but left the White House a millionaire (whooo-hoooo!). But that is all so small time, one trick pony stuff.

The Bush Crime Family is multi-generational and multi-faceted Kennedy a bootlegger? Hell, Grandpa Bush financed the Nazis. Ike's military-industrial complex? Who flew the Bin Laden family out of America (attending a conference with Daddy Bush) when no planes could fly? Defense contractor Raytheon. Bectel Corp. was building the great evil one Saddam a chemical factory. Haliburton helps axis-of-evil Iran with it's oil field development. But that is just one tentacle to the Bush Crime Family.

Much like the Mob, with it's prostitution-drugs-loan sharking, the Bush Crime Family makes the entire mafia look like a petty mom-and-pop operation.

Remember Daddy Bush's BCCI banking problems? Brother Neil taking down Silverado Savings and Loan? Neil again scamming HUD out of millions connected to the Contra affair? How about Jeb, flying suitcases full of cash to Nigeria, scamming the World Import-Export Bank?

Uncle Bucky, with his Chinese connections, helping the reds buy satellite technology. Brother Neil again, helping the same commies with their semiconductor plants? When little Dubya drums up the WMD scare for Iraq, the army buys several multi-million-dollar-a-pop WMD detector machines (previously having only owned one prototype model). Who is on the board of that company? Uncle Bucky (reaping a huge jump in the company's stock price).

The huge world wide multi-million dollar scams that they have their fingers in, on a global scale, totalling billions, you can't even pay attention to the small potato stuff. Bad water pumps to New Orleans from Jeb's former partnership? Slips by like water under the bridge. It was only for 32 million, not like the 75 million his company and Nigeria stuck the US taxpayer with previously.

Here is one that even effects poker: Barrick Mining. Bush Crime Family has invested millions into the company that does a lot of gold and silver mining in Nevada. Any one want to research, and find that Barrick Mining is the same Barrick Gaming that bought all the casinos in downtown Las Vegas from old Jackie Gaughan? So I haven't researched, but I believe, Bush Crime Family indirectly owns The Plaza, Las Vegas Club, and about 6 other downtown LV joints. Now the skim off 8 downtown casinos is petty small time stuff, compared to some of their other criminal operations, but how hard and how much would it cost, to get somebody to slip a online gambling ban into a defense spending bill to eliminate some competition? (The same bill that tried to give some Bush Crime Family associates millions in Port Authority fees, remember that scam attempt for the Arab company, which the Bush Crime Family collected "consulting" fees for?)

Global Oil-Saudi Connections-Military Contractors and Industry-Chinese Business Partners-International Banking- they have been scamming and skimming the taxpayer for generations.

My understanding is that the bulk of their investments are now going into South American real estate, I wonder what all that is for? It wasn't just mere chance that the Bush twins vacation in Argentina. Bush Crime Captains all going to retire to their own South American countries in the future?
