Looking for a TV/monitor...but somewhat baffled!

OK, so I'm lacking space and want to double up a TV as a monitor in my bedroom. There's a cable connection in the room that I want to hook up to it(not a box or anything, just a wall socket). I do play games, but not that often and usually old ones so I *think* my 7800gt should be up to the task of running a 1080p TV(?)

Are the Sharp and Sceptre near the top of this page:

the sort of things I should be looking for or am I a million miles wide of the mark? Would I need to buy anything extra to get things up and running?

I'd really prefer a TV which doubles as a monitor than vice versa, unless there's good reasons it's much better to go the other way round?
