Looking at the remaining player list, it appears that the [censored] up structure is going to cause a weak final table, at least far weaker than last year. Mr. Knotter, anyone?

LOL horseaments, I guess.

Weak final table? These guys are in the top 12 currently:

Tim Phan
Barry Greenstein
Max Pescatori
Freddy Deeb
Mike Matusow
Justin Bonomo
Greg Raymer
Daniel Negreanu
David Singer

Hmmm, a couple of those people are big net losers at table 1 over the years, and even more never made it to the big leagues at all.

Looks more like the consolation prize bracket.

"I would say this is less of a "gambling" event and more of a skill event than any other at the WSOP."

Hopefully points are like buses and there's another one in 5 minutes because you missed this one.

[/ QUOTE ]

Skilled players with a lot of money would want to play this tourney. It may be the greatest test of poker skill. Some internet players, like Antonius, know it is important to learn all the games. Winning or cashing in HORSE could also cement a reputation and help one gain sponsorship that would pay many entry fees in the future, and introduce one to many other money-making possibilities.

So, the "I have better things to do" excuse is sort of weak.
The "hold 'em is more profitable" excuse? It seems many top pros will tell you that learning other games is important and also keeps them mentally fresh for a long-term career in poker.

[/ QUOTE ]you do realize this is a tournament with a crap structure aka donkament. anyone can win

I dont think Gabe should be disrespected as some novice. He has a lot more experience in these games than the vast majority of players still in there and I'm sure he has their full respect.

Personally, I'm pulling for him. He's a good guy, good player and long overdue for a bracelet.

He's not a novice, but how do you think he would fare if he had to play HORSE with Doyle, Chip, Phil & Barry day in and day out?

A tournament that takes 5 days to determine a winner out of 143 entrants can hardly be called a fast structure. It's a lot different having 20 bets in a limit tournament than no-limit.
