also would it be a good idea to take 1 on the first draw when I see that villain is drawing 2?

I don't think this is a good position for doing so. Just call and draw two. If you snow every time you see five low cards it's far too often.

I'd not get so out of line here, and just draw 2. If you pick up more low cards but pair up, consider snowing based more on your read of your opponent combined with their decreased likelihood of having caught a needed card. Some players will play table cop with 9s and 10s, and in extreme cases, the face cards. Observe your opponents' tendencies leading up to these hands to see if you can snow them.
