Official October sales numbers (Wii barrels ahead, 360 still strong)

ok, found it

galaxy sold only 256k in japan in first week
sunshine sold 280k in japan in first week

so it isn't doing too hot there right now

however, i go to 4 points:

a) casual owners of wii that may buy galaxy aren't looking for its release date and buying it on the day it comes out

b) people who bought gamecube just for sunshine back then couldn't do the same here...wiis are sold out so everyone couldn't just go to store to buy wii+galaxy...so that will also lower the numbers over sunshine

c) it was only four days, 11/1-11/4, not an entire week

d) this is JAPAN, which is not a good indicator of the rest of the world...they don't like console gaming as much as handheld gaming...look at their console game sales today compared to console game sales 5-10 years ago...they do most of their gaming on ds/psp, not wii/ps3...in US, Gamestop alone had 400k preorders for Galaxy


galaxy will sell many more copies than sunshine did in the long-run...maybe not first week, but first month or two and from then on
