12 left, hero has been aggressive/solid and chip leader for the last 40 minutes. Blinds are 300/600.

Stacks:

BB: 8,000
MP1: 4,000
MP2: 5,000
CO: 6,000

MP limps, CO limps.

Hero finds himself on teh button with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Id make it 1800 to go here. Hero has position and the chips to bully the table. Limping here isnt making use of your stack. You'll push off the SC's and speculating hands looking for a cheap flop. Maybe even taking down the pot here with a 2400 raise.

At this stage AK is raising here so i cant say someone has AK. Personally id make it 1800 or 2400 to go. Look to take down the pot or play the hand headsup with position advantage.

Just shove. You're crushing their limping ranges and the effective stacks are only as big as CO's stack (10 BBs), so pushing here isn't an overbet at all since you'd have odds to be calling any push if you just raised.

So just push in the first place... you'd most likely add 2k chips to your stack without a showdown and you're almost always ahead here if you're called. Plus, you'll be denying odds for the blinds to get involved. Plus, you'll be reinforcing in your opponent's minds that they don't want to play against you unless they have a real hand, which makes it easier to put them on ranges later.

The only apprehension I have here is that sometimes limps from stacks under 10 BBs are done with monsters in order to induce a raise. But I think that's just a small part of their ranges and pushing is very EV+.

I would disagree that this is a small part of their range here. If you look at it, the limper has under 10 BB and a M of less than 5 and is heading into the blinds on the next 2 hands. He can't afford to limp with much so unless I have a read on this guy that tells me he is a complete donkey, I would put his range as JJ-AA, AK. Against that range, you have only 32% equity and if you push and he calls (and second limper folds), you will be getting 1.4-1 PO. I don't think you want to make a habit of folding AQs to a non-raised pot but given the circumstances, I would say you are significantly behind more often that not. Given that you have a big stack, I might limp behind and see if I can draw in the blinds and get 4-1 on my call and hope to snag the flush draw or better. With your stack and the unlikely chance that any blind would raise after 3 limpers, I would happy to see a flop with incredible implied odds and hope to flop BIG and maybe take a couple out here. If you miss the flop, you're only down 600.

Wow, much confusing/conflicting stuff here!

People think that SS will limp monsters to get
action, but then say that Hero is usually ahead
if called? Um...not necessarily.

Against aggro big stacks, what would you do if you
suddenly picked up a monster OOP? Personally, I
would only raise if the CL was into 3-betting and
not folding to aggression/trying to over-bully.

I have a larger concern here, you have a CALL from
an opponent who is sandwiched between a suspicious
limping shortstack and the Bully, who he knows will
be raising a lot.

I call, and use my position to play postflop.

Now, what boards will you get it in on taking a line
like that?

Exactly what Zen said.

If we push - we force hands to fold we are very happy to play against postflop, but we'll see hands calling, that we are at best flipping against.

Just call and play your positional advantage.
