Default So I limped with aces

about 40/90 players left in an online tournament with a somewhat low buy-in, avg stack is ~3400. New to the table and no reads on the two oppoents.

Relevant stacks:
Hero: 4300
UTG+1: 3900
BB: 4400

75/150, 10 players

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Hero calls, UTG+1 raises to 450, 7 folds, BB calls, Hero..?

What do you think about the limp? I do this occasionally, esp if the table are aggressive.

What do you prefer now? Should I call, min-raise (!), make it something like 1700-1900 or push?

Definitely don't call.

Definitely don't min raise.

Pushing or 1800-2K are fine.

Is limp re-raising with aces not a bit obvious, particularly in low buyin tournaments when villains don't perceive you to balance your ranges? What's so bad about calling here?

Is the fact that the raiser is uTG+1 significant here? He's presumably got a smuch stornger hand that he might struggle to fold...

Open raise when it first got to you and you wouldn't give UTG+1 a chance to make a hero fold. Seriously though, why would you limp without a plan for what happens if it is raised? And why are you getting so fancy with 30 bbs? If you just open raise there is no reason why you shouldn't get the money in by the turn, let alone the river.

As played shove. For the love of god don't minraise

As played post in LSMTT

As posted bond should moderate ;-)

I obviously don't think the limp is bad, but this seems like a bad stack size to limpreraise. Shorter and it is an easy push, which could be other hands. I disagree that limping aces with deeper money is bad: I do it, but I mix up my play and follow up fairly well.

Villain made an unusually large raise in early position. This is often a big hand. I would push, representing a play with a limping hand or a middle pp / AK. He will call with JJ+, AK.

LRR with 30bb is throwing away a ton of EV imo. As played I might just shove, probably more likely to get a call from 88-Jj since its a low level mtt

I did what I think is the worst of all options and raised to 2100 and both folded.

when UTG+1 raised my initial plan was to just call if everyone else folded with the plan to c/r any flop but with BB in as well I thought it would be a big chance that he wouldnt cont bet the flop etc.

I think pushing woulda been the best play as played.

however, I dont think minreraising is THAT bad of a play actually even if it turns my hand somewhat face up sinse I will most probably get 600 more in the pot and they might get stuck with a hand like TP anyway, making it something like 900-1100 is probably better than 750 though if I would do a very small raise.

I agree somewhat that limping with aces in with 30-35bb is not that good of an idea in general and is a better play somewhat shallower, 15-25bb or so.
