On third, I would also accept limping. I would probably just bet out on fifth, but the check-raise is good. I'd go one more bet on sixth. It's tough for him to put you on trips.

Uhm, why wouldn't you b3b sixth? You do realize he must have aces or kings or nines in the hole to beat you right?

Thanks for the quick answer - so basically you're saying I played it fine? I just don't understand how he thinks his Ks are good against my check raise. Ah well, I guess just variance/bad run.

Check raise on Five is way too tricky. With an open pair you risk a check behind on a BB street, and that's awful. Get paid while you can.

Getting the check-raise in, whoopee, you've tipped your hand and all but guaranteed that you won't get three bets in on a later street unless your opponent is a boob -- and then when presented with that opportunity on Six, you fail to take advantage of it.

I raise 4th hoping for a free card on 5th. As played, I 3 bet 6th- he probably has 2 high pair and you have fh and flush draws to fall back on.

My thoughts,exactly.

And to elaborate on that, taking enough time during a hand and trying to really pinpoint as to what you think your opponent has and what you think that he thinks you have, will definitely help you to make better choices throughout. You want to know why you're raising when you're raising and why you're checkraisng when you're checkraising and what's likely to come of it when you do. Example, when you CR the hand on 5th, you're tipping off your hand WAY more than if you just lead out and acted like you just made 2 pair. That way, if he does have 2 higher pair, he'll probably raise you and then you can collect 3 bets opposed to the possibility of only collecting 2(which is what happened to you in this hand). Also, and like Electrical pointed out, by checking, you give him the chance to check behind, which he will probably do if he only has 1 pair because he's probably going to be reading you for 2 pair yourself.
