2500??? Why does that sound like a rip off. I stay seeing 42" Pannys for 1000, i find it hard to believe 8 more inches makes it that much more. Perhaps i am wrong.

It's $2800 or so at BB and Circuit Sheety.. 50" is really a pretty big set, not the biggest, but it's big enough for me. yeah, the 1080P is prolly not neccessary, but I don't mind future proofing when the last set I bought was outdated in a few years.. (4:3 53" standard set behemoth rear projection)

Definitely go smaller and 1080p. Especially if its primary use is games.

[/ QUOTE ]

Really bad recommendation. Bigger is better and very few (if any) games are native 1080p.

Nice, man! How much? Where'd you pick it up?

$2,500 at Video Only. They're only in Wa, Or, and Northern CA I believe.

The only thing that disapoints me so far is the Fox Sports Network is not in HD and I can't watch the Mariners in HD

fsn HD shows all the home games that fsn carriers in hd. none of the road games.

Yes, go with an LCD if you enjoy clouding/flashlighting/banding, etc..I went thru 4 Samsung LCDS before finally deciding on the 50 1080p 700u that OP decided to get. Every one of the Samsungs had clouding or flashlighting. My friend bought a Toshiba LCD, and although it has no clouding the black level is really really poor to my Panny. My roommate bought an LG LCD, and it has clouding, poor black levels(of course LCDs aren't known for black levels). Sonys have clouding issues as well, and Sharps have banding issues. Pretty much every major manufacturer of LCDS have problems.

As far as burn-in is concerned Im not concerned about it at all. I do alot of gaming and I have yet to experience any burn-in after a few months of ownership. My friend has a Panny from last year as well and he does alot of gaming with no burn-in as well.

Not trying to bash you, but trying to get a good LCD Is like winning the lottery.

Also anyone interested in buying a tv should check out avsforum.com. You'll learn alot there.

I just saw a 50" Plasma 1080p HDTV at Best Buy for $1500, so again im not so sure about paying $2500. Then again HP might be horrible, what do i know.
