I'm going to be back in STL over Thanksgiving. Is Harrah's still right across the Missouri from Ameristar? I haven't been there since 2003.

If this game is still going strong by then, I'll need some help getting chips. Anyone around who can help me out?

Also, are they still spreading HORSE regularly at Ameristar? My Mom opened that room back in 1993, I believe. Time flies.

Yes, the Harrah's STL is still in the same spot (Earth City, just East of the Missouri on Hwy 70). Unfortunately, the stupid $500 loss limit still applies. What Harrah's did there was split their casino into two, so you can buy in for $500 in one, go to the other, and get another $500 immediately. After two hours, you can do it again. That sort of thing will be necessary if you are going to play the $5-$10 game. As far as Nelly goes, yes, he's a degenerate gambler. Got the President Casino in quite a bit of trouble for them a few years back, when they ignored the Loss Limit law and letting him buy in for $25K instead of the standard $500.

OP, at least tell the whole story. LOL
Nelly told the re-raiser (a guy he's good friends with btw), "I know you got Aces, but I got the FEDS" (ie: I'm gonna bust you) "And if I don't, I don't mind giving you a G." then before he called, they agreed to check it down to the river. Nelly knows how to play the game. He's not an expert by far, but he is not the total donk the original post portrayed him as either. He makes -ev moves for the sake of gambling because he's sitting on about $40 million and the stakes might as well be play money to him.

Aother story from that same night. After Nelly loses a big hand (about $2500 pot IIRC), he is pretty much ready to go home. He has about $4200 in front of him in pumpkins($500s), blacks ($100s), & reds ($5s). He takes all of the pumpkins & blacks off the table (about $3600) and puts them in his pocket, leaving about $600 in reds on the table. Everyone at the table is okay with him taking money of the table because they know from experience that he has absolutely no intentions of leaving the casino with that $600........None whatsoever!! That will be his parting gift to the table. Well the shortstack at the table (about $700) complains about him taking money off the table and the rest of the players proceed to rip him a new one. The table goes crazy, with everyone on shortstacks case. One guy tells him to stfu because the guys who could actually cover the money Nelly took off the table (basically everyone at the table except shortstack) weren't complaining, so he shouldn't be complaining with his $700. Shortstack tries to defend himself with a sheepish, "I didn't know if he knew the rule." Another guy calls BS and calls him an ass. Nelly starts racking up the reds to leave and he calls shortsack a prick (that was his actual word LOL) and he tells the guy, "Why don't we get a table and play heads up for all of the money in your pockets and your car keys!! Well, by this time, shortstack has nothing to say and Nelly leaves, as the rest of the table continues to berate shortstack. See, these guys play with Nelly whenever he comes to town, and they know that he's gonna be a lot of fun to play with and most likely they will be leaving with some of his money, so why piss him off over $3500? Thoughts?

Well, if its a 1K capped game then it shouldn't be that bad. The 2 hour blocks are fixed time. So a player can buy $500 at 1:55 and then another $500 6 minutes later.

What Harrah's did there was split their casino into two, so you can buy in for $500 in one, go to the other, and get another $500 immediately.

I'm sorry, but these are both completely wrong. The 1-2 NL & 2-5 NL games are both capped, but the 5-10 NL game is uncapped. The two hours start from the minute you buy $500 in chips, so if you buy $500 at 1:55, you can't buy anymore until 3:55. Like one of the previous posters said, players just plan ahead and keep chips from their last visit. Or they buy chips off other players (in the bathroom for example, because in the state of Misery it is illegal to pass chips) And, Harrahs USED to be two seperate casinos; "Players Island" & "Mardi Gras" with different chips, games, etc, but they were consolidated
years ago.

thanks for the additional anecdotes..i obviously had second hand info, and i didnt ask for exact details..ive played with him and seen him play, and also talked to manager about his level of play..i think you would agree red, nelly isn't new to poker, but most 2/5 & 5/10 regulars have a huge edge over him..the fact that the money sitting on the table in either of those games means absolutely NOTHING to him, is the reason you want to play that game...-ev means nothing to someone that rich...btw, red..are you davids friend? you usually wear the ub jacket??

I would agree completely that most of the 2-5 & 5-10 regulars have an advantage over him. I also agree that if you are a regular, you WANT to be at the table with Nelly for sure. Aside from the fact that he is most likely gonna donate, he brings lots of life to the table.

As far as the shortstack, I don't know his name and I didn't have the best view of him (he was in the 10 seat and I was sitting at the next table, behind the 2 seat, so not a very clear view) but from what I could tell he was a short, skinny guy. And for some reason I wanna say he had a kinda funny mustache. I guess I'm not good at describing people.

No, I don't know David and I don't wear a ub jacket.

jcg, what does "shake =/= urfo" mean?
