Default year in the life of a live player

didnt win enough to make this a brag, didnt do poorly enough to make this a beat, so just file it under variance.

kept careful track of all my live play on statking. this is not online play (where i won, but significantly less and had wild swings) or taking pieces of players (made a significant amount this year doing so).

here's how it breaks down:
1212 hours
won $152,140
best month +43970
worst month -2047

games played (i was curious to see how this worked out), all games limit hold em unless noted:
40-80: 25%
20-40: 19%
100-200: 16%
15-30: 13%
60-120: 9%
nl hold em: 4.5%
30-60: 3%
200-400 or 300-600: 2.5%
other limits lhe, mixed games, stud, o8, etc: 8%

observations:
--i lost $8172 playing only 26 hours of non hold em games. expensive little habit. i do suck at these games but really want to learn them, however at $300 an hour i could probably take lessons instead of trying to figure it out on my own.
--i lost -5367 playing nl in 56 hours. in 2005 i won at nl over 100 hours.
--i made $162k playing limit hold em. over 90k was won at two limits 40 and 100. but at 60-120 my win rate was a measly $28 an hour over 106 hours.
--i played 551 sessions of poker, 30 of which were under .25 hours (waiting for another game usually), and only 6 were 10 hours or more. the longest session i played was only 12 hours.
--for the past 150 hours of play ive broke even.
--the most i lost in one session was $25k, and the most i won was $14k. i only won more than 10k in 3 sessions, and i lost over $10k 4 times.

Thanks for sharing. Only 1212 hours played? Nice win rate considering its live play (small # hands dealt). Mind sharing where you are playing?

I think thats really cool that you are only playing 1200 hours a year. Fantastic "part time" job poker is for you sir.

Mike,

Do you play a lot one week and not so much the next, or pretty consistent like 20-25 hours a week?

Hey, I am saying "part-time" in a completly complimentary way, referring to the ammount of hours played. So why are you defending him against something that is in no way an attack or belittling? I was unaware of his drive time (which must be significant)?

I was asking out of curiosity. Congrats OP.

i'm not defending him. why would i defend a douchebag? i'm just pointing out that 25 hours at the tables can mean well over 40 hours spent on poker in total.

yeah it's true at least 4 hours a week driving on average. kinda sucks. but not as bad as living near there would suck. it got better as the year went on and i got used to staying at the hotel. that adds to expenses though. $10k in expenses maybe for the year?

one thing though is since i rarely drive alone (and when i do i talk on my cell) it's not really work time, it's leisure time talking about what a db stinkypete is mainly but other stuff too.

a few Questions...How long have you been doing this? If this isn't yr first year, how does this year compare to others? is this mostly full ring or are u one of those guys that pick out the losers in the wee-hours at night in short handed games? Also, what is your biggest loss and how many hours did it last?
