I don't know how many of these are actually folk lore, but he did say "He's the best QB I've ever seen" when referring to Kurt [censored] Warner when Warner was on the Rams. That was by far the most ridiculous thing ever said by a football commentator.

Oh, and this past Sunday when Garcia fumbled with 3:30 mins left he said, "That's the No Hands Rule." and completed the sentence with something close to "No other rule matters, because you don't actually have the ball in your hands."

Still, the Kurt Warner thing was best ever, add Summerall sipping a cocktail adding "He is good" in his Summerall voice.

Totally off topic - I still remember Billy Packard saying Mateen Cleeves was the best player to ever come out of Michigan State during the NCAA championship game. This means he was better than Magic Johnson, which when questioned on by Jim Nance, Billy defended his comment. Worse comment than Madden by far.
