Re: 50/100 hand Foxwoods
understood, given that read. if he feels villain won't lay down a weak king under heavy pressure, then for his turn raise to be correct, poster must believe villain is semi-bluffing a draw there a high percentage of the time.

Re: 50/100 hand Foxwoods
Yup, and that's why we don't like the turn raise.
But you are right: If the turn raise is good, I think a river bet is correct. |

Re: 50/100 hand Foxwoods
You have committed your self to bet the river w/this turn raise. You are in no position to free showdown raise on the turn, as your hand is no good once he calls. Therefore, your turn raise is a bluff, you need to follow through in rhythm. Better yet, just call the turn and you will win more/lose less when you hit your nut/nut draw.

Re: 50/100 hand Foxwoods
hey rt1,
i was at the table this hand and for some reason i thought you had adjd or adqd when you raised the turn. in the actual hand, i like raising the turn against good opponents, but this guy didn't seem good, which means he almost always has a king here and that he has no intention of folding, esp. given your image. i'd just call and fold the river unimproved. but after that AT hand, i don't have a right to talk |

Re: 50/100 hand Foxwoods
rt, I agree with everybody else in this thread that given your read and image at the time you are much better off just calling the turn. You can argue though that if you think he has QJ some significant portion of the time then raising the turn is good as being ahead there should make up for your equity deficit the times you're behind and he doesn't fold.
nice meeting you btw. |

Re: 50/100 hand Foxwoods
i dont like the turn raise much.
if he has a brain here.. you have 44, TT, AK, QdJd or exactly what you have. but if he plays rather passively like OP suggested, then once he calls the turn bet you're spewing the river UI every time. |

Re: 50/100 hand Foxwoods
Given the situation I like calling the turn, but given how you played it I agree with Joe Tall that you have to follow through with the river. If he is not a good player though I would consider checking behind the river, but if that was the case I would not raise the turn either.

Re: 50/100 hand Foxwoods
Older guy w/ a beard? He's not folding and he's probably not c/r the flop w/ a draw. I would like this against a decent player who can fold a weak K, but against a semi-weakie I don't buy it. Add your current image and it makes it worse.
