Default AK hand

30 game. its 5 handed because half the table just walked away.

Im in the BB with AK spades. UTG is a loose aggressive kid who raises. One caller, I 3 bet. Both call.

Flop comes Ac Td 7d.

I bet, UTG raises, folded to me, I 3 bet, UTG calls.

Turn is 6d.

I bet, UTG calls.

River is Qc.

I bet, He calls.

Now, when he raises the flop I have him on an ace, diamonds, or maybe 89? He is aggressive enough that if he has an ace and I check to him he will bet (both turn and river). He is also not going to raise (or fold) an ace on the latter streets.

Does anyone like check calling (turn/river)? I figure you win the same when you are ahead, but lose less when you are behind. However, I dont think I can pull this line.

do not ever check this turn. A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J does not deserve a freebie.

well, if he has AJd theres NO WAY he checks behind. Hell, he wouldnt even check behind with A2 (neither diamond).

No, I play the hand the same way you did.

PF and the flop are standard, the turn is a bet since villain will have a weaker ace or other PP much more than something like the KQd or QJd (it is 5 handed and he may have capped the flop since he is young + aggressive).

The river is also standard.

If you are sure he will bet the river with any ace when you check and he is never going to fold; C/R the river!

I think this opens us up too much to an extra BB when villain does have a hand like QT, AQ, or KdJ. If 3bet, we almost have to call given the size of the pot and the fact that he is loose and aggressive.

I like betting the river a lot more.

He isn't bluffing the river with a missed draw after you 3-bet preflop, 3-bet the flop and then bet the turn. Just bet the river to allow him to call with K-Q or a diamond that paired along the way.
