cancuk,

let's keep this thread to US cities. the vast majority of twoplustwo users are in the US at the moment, and anything in canada is an international vacation. i'd like to make this thread a good resource for US (or domestic) travel.

Cancuk,

Please start an 'Ask the Travel Forum about Canadian Cities' thread. I would be very interested in that thread as the firm I work for has about 600 offices in Canada.

Thank you,

Jim Kuhn

putting in a request for CLEVELAND. Going to the ALCS next week and need good places to eat and drink within walking or cab distance of Jacob's Field.

Hit the 'flats' for various bars and good times.
Hit the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame one of the afternoon you are there when you aren't getting blitzed in the flats.

There are other bars and restaurants all around Jacobs Field/Quicken Loans Arena area to choose from and obviously the area should be quite hopping when the Indians are in town but I don't have any specific recommendations.

Cleveleand was nice, especially liked Fourth St. Didn't make it to the flats because it was raining on day two. Expect a more thorough trip report in OOT after the World Series.

Next stop: Denver
I'll be there for two nights. I saw on Google there's a row of bars a block away from Coors Field. Anything else to do in Denver during the day on Monday if there is no game 5?

meatball, if you get the chance, really head up to teh boulder area and go hiking in rocky mountain national park. It's such a beautiful area.

THere is also the famous stanley hotel to check out for a night if you want to possibly run into some ghosts. It's known for being haunted, and Stephen King spent a lot of time there when he wrote the Shining, and the overlook hotel is based on his experiences in the Stanley. It's been too long since I've been to boulder/estes park, but, it's definitely worth taking the diversion while the weather still may be decent to check out some stuff you can't see anywhere else. If the weather isn't that agreeable, then at least spend some time walking around boulder, it's just such a great town and has one of the more interesting feels to it, especially for a college town

thanks for the response, but I only had limited time in Denver, and if I ever went there again I would definitely rent a car as the airport is far away and transport to and from our Lakewood hotel (which was by no means "minutes from downtown Denver" contrary to Best Western's website) was a big pain in the ass.

Apart from Coor's field, the only sights I got to see was that 16th st Mall, and I still can't figure out how you're supposed to pay for the light rail, so I never did. The mall area seemed pretty good for bars and restauraunts, though. If I was to go again I would definitely try to work in more outdoorsy hiking stuff.

Next stop: Buffalo
Anyone know any places to hang out by Ralph Wilson Stadium before the Pats game in a couple weeks?

ORLANDO

The land of Disney World and amusement parks!! One of the biggest airports nationwide, you'll find yourself almost in the heart of Orlando! We have numerous Amusement/Theme Parks including:
Disney's Magic Kingdom where you can ride number rollercoasters!
MGM Studios - Ride the movies!
Epcot Center - School field trips go here to learn about different countries around the world. You can also drink around the world (very expensive though!)
Animal Kingdom - Safari animals, Lions, tigers and bears OH MY, shows, lots of fun for the family
Sea World - Sharks, Polar Bears, Fead the Dolphins and walruses, otters... See Shamu the killer whale! A great family fun park as well

The roads are fairly easy to navigate - I-4 takes you to all the amusement parks and runs NE to SW, 528 (Beachline) takes you to Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach where you can see the Space Shuttle at Kennedy Space Center!, 408 (East West Expressway) takes you East and West to Waterford Lakes, one of, if not the biggest shopping center on the east coast.

We also have City Walk which is a series of Restaurants and shops that lead to Islands of Adventure (amusement park - rollercoasters) and Universal Studios - (Ride the movies!). City Walk has an excellent night scene with a variety of clubs (City Jazz, Pat O'Briens) or catch a bite to eat at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville or Emirel's Steakhouse (BAM - kick it up a knotch). Hard Rock Live is also located here where several bands play.

You can also go to Downtown Disney and eat at the almost famous Planet Hollywood Restaurant or RainForest Cafe. There are various shops, etc.. down there - a good place for a romantic walk with a date.

We are home to the ORLANDO MAGIC basketball team and ORLANDO PREDATORS football team (Arena Football)

You will have to drive 1 hour to Tampa or 1 hour to Melbourne to find a casino as there are no poker rooms in Orange, Seminole or Lake counties.

Please tell me you bought Rockpile tickets. It's so much more fun for visiting fans in that section

As for the city itself Niagara Falls isn't very far away if you've never seen them. Of course, a trip to the Anchor Bar is necessary for the original chicken wing.

I don't actually know that much about the city though as I only go there to see the Bills a few times a year.
