WTF is with people? tutor for kindergarten
What is this person thinking??
kindergarten tutor the main purpose of kindergarten is 1) socialization 2) learn how to listen to someone other than mom/dad/nanny 3) learn to read a little bit and some basic math I could understand if this kid was disabled. but wtf, you're worried about your kid falling behind in kindgergarten? or wanting them to get to the head of the class? get your kid some playdates. why can't people just let kids have a childhood? Is it that they're projecting themselves onto their kid? what chance does this kid have of turning out normal? yikes. |

Kids should be able to read before entering kindergarten.
As a parent, it's negligent to not have your child literate by the time they start school. |

Re: WTF is with people? tutor for kindergarten
There's nothing wrong with parents who want their kid to be ahead of the class.

Not all children will be "literate" before they start kindergarten. That's why they have something called, ah, school. |

Re: WTF is with people? tutor for kindergarten
Kids don't need to be literate before school. However its obviously a benefit. I'd take over-enthusiastic parent like this guy over negligent I-don't-give-a-[censored]-if-my-kid-can-read parent.

Re: WTF is with people? tutor for kindergarten
it is a bit overbearing to worry about how your kid is doing competitively in kindergarten. overbearing parents create issues. it's not going to do any harm, but I just don't see the point. i think it bodes ill for the kids future if the parent doesn't understand the point of kindergarten. instead of having more adult interaction for the kid, they should be seeking more kid interaction - play dates, music or dance or ice skating or gymnastics or whatever. save the tutoring for when they have homework or algebra or calculous or they can't read or whatever.
also, why aren't mom and dad available to work on these issues? |

[/ QUOTE ]Most parents who are so "overbearing" during the Kindergarten years are also the type of people who'll overprogram their kids with classes, music, and sports.
